Freedom in Christ.
What does that mean? Does it mean I walk on eggshells every time I’m at the church building? Does it mean I am careful what I say so as to not offend anyone? Does it mean my own home must function as we would at the church building? I don’t think so. Freedom in Christ is to live as Christ lived. It is to live radically and, dare I say it, to change…

Here I sit, on another early friday morning. Another week had flown by. And I can’t help but wonder, has Christ been alive in me this week? Is it even possible for me to understand my origin with God? Dietrich Bonhoeffer is quite the extrodinary thinker. I started reading his “Ethics” about a week ago. So far, I’m through the first section in chapter one. Roughly a page and a little over three quarters. Pretty good stuff. If God is not still alive and active in this world, I will never know what Bonhoeffer is talking about, but if He is, I think I may have the gift of a little bit of transformation.

On another note, for the climbing interests, our plans are really quite flexible. Normally we try to head up with a group from church in mid to late august, our best summiting weather. However, very soon we are looking to build up the custom home market so we have a couple months in the summer to guide some “mountain adventures.” (hey, that’s pretty catchy…) Nevertheless, we are not bound by a schedule or even a certain time of year. We may even attempt another winter accent in a couple weeks. That said, if you’d like to climb, we would love to take you. We are still working on the business model, but I can pretty much guarantee it will be a least $200 cheaper than other Christian guiding companies, to avoid naming names. We are ready to meet the Creator on the top of the world, are you?

Ministry Ideas

Some have asked about my ministry ideas. Well, as I told my brother-in-law, I’m not really interested in ministry, I’m interested in people. Something I would love to do is a program similar to Wilderness Trek. I’m sure some of you are familiar with what that is. If not, here’s a short explaination. If God allows, my father and I will be able to take anyone who wishes, including but not limited to those who can’t afford Trek or other such programs, on a backpacking trip (3-5 days) into the heart of God’s majestic creation. Those who wish would climb with us one, or however many we could handle, of Colorado’s Peaks, 14,000 ft. or higher. I believe there is something about the altitude that brings me closer to God and I would love to share that experience with any and everyone who is willing to take the challenge.

Now, if you’ve got interested groups, both faith based, or not, let us know. We have at least one trip each summer that is all but set in stone, and we would be more than willing to plan a few more. You bring yourself, and we’ll provide the rest. I’m interested to what kind of response we would get. Let me know.
